BELLE is motivated by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race girl of a Royal Navy Admiral. Inspired by her great-uncle Lord Mansfield and his wife, Belle's lineage gives her particular rights, however her skin's color prevents her from fully engaging in the traditions of her standing.
