Martin is an American sitcom created by HBO Independent Productions which aired from August 27, 1992 to May 1, 1997 on Fox. The show is both branded later and stars actor-comedian Martin Lawrence together with supporting characters Carl Anthony Payne II, Thomas Mikal Ford, Tichina Arnold, and Tisha Campbell.Reflecting the Fox network's popularity Martin was one of the highest-rated shows of those network during the sitcom run. In contrast to this popularity of NBC's"Must See TV" on Thursday nights in the 1990s, several African American and Latino viewers flocked to Fox's Thursday night Lineup of Martin, Living Single, and New York Undercover. These were the three highest-rated series among households for the 1996--1997 year old.
