The true narrative of pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman's adventures in Warsaw. Once the Jews of the town are pushed into a ghetto, Szpilman uncovers work playing in a café. And when his family has been deported in 1942, he remains below, works for awhile as being a laborer, and ultimately goes into hiding from the war-torn city's ruins.
