Mock documentary about an upstart candidate to the U.S. Senate written and directed by actor Tim Robbins. Bob Roberts is really a folk singer with a gap: He also offers tunes that protest liberal whining, welfare chiselers, and the like. As the filmmakers follow his effort, Robbins gives insight in to the way candidates manipulate the press.
