Eight Men Out - 1988

The great Chicago White Sox team of 1919 may be the saddest team to win a pennent. The team is sour in their own championships, and also in their penny-pincher owner, Charles Comiskey. Gamblers take advantage of this opportunity to offer some players to throw the series (Many of these players did not get as much as guaranteed ) However, Buck Weaver and the excellent Shoeless Joe Jackson return at the last minute to try and play their very best. The Sox actually return from a 3-1 deficit. The truth breaks out and the Sox are sued on multiple balances. The jury finds innocent them however baseball commissioner Landis has different plans. The eight players have been frozen for life, and Buck Weaver, for the remainder of his life, strives to clear his name.
