Hester Street - 1975

Steven Keats performs a Russian emigre who prides himself along how he has pushed himself into a real Yankee in america, although the entire planet he resides in, New York's Lower East Side from the late 19th century, is almost exclusively inhabited by additional Jewish immigrants. When his wife (Carol Kane) finally arrives at the New World, but she's got lots of assimilating to do. Though it keeps a fairly light atmosphere the majority of times this causes the tension which drives the picture together.
