My Kingdom - 2011

In the 1800s, the Prince Regent of the Qing Dynasty orders that the entire Meng clan be killed all at once. Before he gets his head cut off, the leader promises that his family will get even for this injustice. A five-year-old Meng boy named Erkui bravely sings an aria as he waits to die. Master Yu, an opera star, and Guan Yilong, his 7-year-old student, are both moved by the power and purity of his voice. The boy is saved by Master Yu, and the two orphans become brothers. Years later, Master Yu gets the prized golden plaque that says "The Mightiest Warrior" from the Prince Regent, but he loses it in a fight with his rival, Master Yue. Master Yu trains the two brothers in the village because he was kicked off the stage after he lost. When the boys become men, they go to Shanghai to get their own back. Once they get to Shanghai, they quickly beat Master Yue and take over his opera troupe. They also get the plaque back.
