When Alexander and Laura meet at a party, it's clear that they like each other, but she's about to get married, and Alexander is already married to a beautiful woman with whom he has a daughter. Alexander's childhood memories keep coming back to him, in part because of the support of his lifelong friends. This makes him think about what was, what will be, and what could have been.
