San Demetrio London - 1943

1943 British drama documentary based on the true story of the rescue of the tanker MV San Demetrio by parts of her own crew after she had been set afire in the middle of the Atlantic by the German heavy cruiser Admiral Scheer and then abandoned after the fire had been extinguished. The film was produced in the United Kingdom. They made the decision to board the blazing tanker and put out the fires after one of the lifeboats floated back to it the next day and found that it had not yet exploded after discovering that it had not yet exploded. In the end, they were successful in restarting the engine, and they made the decision to keep going in spite of the overwhelming odds against them.
