Surgeon Tomas matches with a photographer named Tereza leaves Prague for a surgery, and brings her back together with him. Tereza is astonished to find out that Tomas has already been having a affair with an bohemian Sabina, however all three flee into Switzerland, whenever the invasion does occur. Sabina begins an affair, Tom continues womanizing, and Tereza yields to Czechoslovakia. Tomas decides to chase her.
