If she can't be cared for by her mum anymore fourteen-year-old Mackenzie is sent to live with her uncle in Juneau. The situation immediately requires a turn to the worse, and that she runs off to rejoin her mother at Seattle. While on her journey of breaking into hotel rooms and sleeping in cars, she is interested in Rene, a lonesome backpacker looking for tranquility within the wilderness.
