In the Heat of the Night is a American tv set based on publication and also the motion film of the same name starring Howard Rollins as the African-American police detective, and Carroll O'Connor since the snowy police chief William Gillespie Virgil Tibbs. It had been broadcast on NBC from 1988 until 1992, and then on CBS before 1995. Its producers were Carroll O'Connor, Juanita Bartlett and Fred Silverman.
