The Big Bang Theory is centered on five characters Room-mates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper. Penny. And Sheldon and Leonard 's equally geeky and exceptionally embarrassing friends and co workers engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali. Wisdom and the geekiness of the four guys is contrasted with the social skills and common sense of Penny for effect.
