Director Mario Van Peebles simplifies the complex production of his father Melvin's classic 1971 film,"Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song" Playing his dad in the movie, Van Peebles provides an unapologetic account of Melvin's brash and sometimes fraudulent behaviour on the set of the movie, including questionable antics like writing bad checks, tricking a local fire department allowing his son, Mario, to take racy sexual scenes at the age of 11.
